With projects around the globe, four best-selling books on residential architecture, and an award-winning architectural, planning, and interior design team, Newport-based Bassenian Lagoni is one of California’s most respected architectural firms. For 2016, the group is bringing its expertise to Nevada, where they’ll team up with TRI Pointe Group’s Pardee Homes unit, Hanley Wood, Western Window Systems, and others for a two-home concept project called “Responsive Home.” Part of Pardee Homes’ Inspirada master planned community in Henderson, Nevada, the Responsive Home residences will be showcased at the 2016 International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas.

“The Responsive Home project brings together a team of industry leaders to create housing that meets the needs of the Millennial generation,” says Hans Anderle, vice president and senior designer at Bassenian Lagoni. “The intent was to create homes that meet the needs of Millennial buyers today while offering the flexibility to grow and change to meet future demands.”

Bassenian Lagoni utilized quantitative and qualitative research on Millennials during the design process, even taking advantage of its Millennial team members for in-house focus groups. According to Builder magazine, the Responsive Homes (2,100 and 3,000 sq. ft.) will include features such as technology-enabled automation and energy performance, adoptable floor plans, and an indoor-outdoor flow.

“Seamless indoor-outdoor living was key for this buyer group,” says Anderle. “Expanding spaces visually and with door systems that open to create larger living spaces for entertaining helps meet the dual desires of this buyer segment.”
