Danny Bach

Fresh eyes can mean a fresh perspective, especially when it comes to finding ways to make Western Window Systems run faster, better, and more cost-efficiently.

That’s how supply chain manager Cameron Wyatt accounts for the lean problem solving accomplished by him and buyer Danny Bach. Working on the challenge of how to free up space on the manufacturing floor without running short on metal, Wyatt says the two worked on the problem while in the air — on a business trip to California in January.

“I started with Western in November and Danny was in a new area as a buyer,” Wyatt says. “We started talking on the plane. By the time we landed, we had a couple of solutions in mind.”

By partnering with key suppliers of Western, Wyatt and Bach not only came up with room on Western’s shop floor for the production of new products, they saved over 700 miles (over $100,000) in freight costs.
“The bonus is that it cuts down on our transport-related carbon emissions, too,” says Wyatt.

“We’re so proud of the work Cameron and Danny have done in such a short time,” says Scott Gates, vice president and general manager of Western Window Systems. “They’ve proven that it’s important to have good relationships with our partners so that we can grow together. It’s a win-win for everyone.”
