Shipping Team

You could say that the shipping department at Western Window Systems is a lot like the fastest runner on a relay squad: It has the most catching-up to do when the rest of the team falls behind. And despite hurdles like logistics, man hours for crating, and maintaining a positive customer service experience with both internal departments and external customers, freight manager Mike “Hollywood” Flores has one word to describe his team: unstoppable.

“They’ll do whatever it takes to get the job done,” says Flores, “whether they have to come in at 5 a.m. or leave at three in the morning and do it all over again the next day.”

Flores adds that everyone on the team strives for excellence every day, but when mistakes do occur, they take the time to sit down together and work on solutions to ensure the same misunderstanding isn’t repeated. The goal, ultimately, is customer satisfaction.

“We know that to succeed, teamwork is a must,” Flores says. “And we understand the benefits of partnership. When other departments need help, we’re at their service — so much so that shipping team members will be asked for by name.”

One of the biggest challenges for Flores and his crew has been Western Window Systems’ phenomenal growth over the past few years. The team has been challenged to find ways to accomplish more with less time and space.

“We’ve come up with a labeling system that makes it easier to identify products when trucks make multiple stops,” says Flores. “And we’ve adjusted our start and finish times to better complement production flow. Like I said, unstoppable.”

Congratulations to Juan Alvarado Sanchez, Daniel Cano Silvas, Fernando Corrales, Shawn Dickerson, Jose Miguel Guevara, Samuel Hernandez, Jerome Johnson, Alexander Mora, Michael Munoz, Rodolfo Nunez Luna, Chris Rodriguez, Bruce Scott, Logen VanArkel, and Mike “Hollywood” Flores, Western Window Systems’ lean problem solvers for February.
