Manager of the Quarter – April 2016

Karl Price

Karl Price is nothing if not competitive. The window and screen manager at Western Window Systems keeps work exciting and, more importantly, challenging, for everyone around him. And when it comes to play, he’s equally as passionate.

“Whether its completing orders correctly or playing in one of our shuffleboard tournaments, Karl always wants to win,” says production manager Chris Allgood.

By challenging others as well as himself, Price turns goals into realities. He’s worked with the screen team on lean manufacturing practices, helped set the wheels in motion for a capacity refinement project, and closely watches the production schedule to ensure his team doesn’t become overloaded.

“Karl saw a workload challenge for OWA (Operating Window Area) weeks ahead of time,” says Allgood. “He trained a member of S.W.A.T. (Special Western Action Team) and had a plan in place to complete orders on schedule before the ship dates for the heavy orders started.”

Allgood goes on to say that Price is dedicated to keeping his team engaged as well.

“Karl cross-trains all of the employees in his department. And for those with a great attitude, attendance record, and work ethic, he’ll go the next step by cross-training them in another department on the floor.”

Congratulations to Karl Price, Western Window Systems’ manager of the quarter.
