Cameron Lim

As the sole desktop support resource for Western Window Systems, Cameron Lim isn’t lacking for things to do. From a never-ending stream of support tickets to folks regularly stopping by to ask for help, Lim, who joined the IT team in 2013, balances a heavy workload by prioritizing critical tasks. Best of all, he maintains a positive, can-do attitude through it all.

“In the world of desktop support, problems arise that have never happened before,” says John Engelstad, chief information officer of Western Window Systems. “Whether it’s getting assistance from others on the IT team, searching the internet for solutions, or reaching out to a vendor for support, Cam never gives up. He’ll stay with a problem until it’s solved.”

When taking on the responsibility of migrating users to a new email system, Lim takes personal ownership in ensuring that he meets his department’s aggressive deployment schedule, focusing on the quality of delivery with every user. On changing system standards for new users, he helped formulate a plan, researched options, and offered a solution. And when the company experienced a handful of email hacks, Lim was one of the first people to interact with impacted employees.

“These attacks can be frustrating on those who have been hit, and it would be easy to make them feel guilty or belittle them for their mistakes,” says Engelstad. “Cam takes the high road and doesn’t dwell on the past. Instead, he focuses on what he can do to get things back up and running as quickly as possible, and to help people understand what they can do differently in the future.”

Congratulations to Cameron Lim, Western Window Systems’ office employee of the month for June.
