The Accounting Team

Most folks don’t realize the importance of the accounting department. That might be because responsibilities such as accounts payable, revenue tracking, payroll, reporting, and financial controls are considered “back office,” or support functions, in business. You might not think much about these activities, but chances are you’d take notice if they didn’t get done.

“Do you like getting paid? Do you think our partners like getting paid?” Western Window Systems president and CEO Scott Gates recently asked employees at a company lunch. “Then you can thank the accounting team. They do it day in and day out. They keep our business running without delays.”

Gates cites last year’s holiday season as a prime example. The accounting team, led by chief financial officer Rick Lingen, worked during the company’s annual shutdown between Christmas and New Year’s Day to ensure a smooth and efficient inventory process.

“While most of us were taking a break, the accounting team practiced excellence to make this company successful,” says Gates. “Their efforts create a solid base for our company and an important measurement tool for our operation.”

Congratulations to the accounting team, Western Window Systems’ office employees of the month for January.
