Tim Hurd

Passion and energy help us carry out goals, but focus gives us a solid foundation to work from. Tim Hurd, of the service and continuous improvement area at Western Window Systems, is an expert at zeroing in, knuckling down, and getting results.

“When it comes to writing standard work, he’s very thorough,” says quality and service manager Todd Hayhurst. “And he has a knack for discovering new training ideas that make Western a better place.”

Dean Seger, vice president of manufacturing, adds that whenever Hurd is given a project to work on with other departments, “he gets all the necessary information and completes it beyond anyone’s original expectations.”

Since joining Western Window Systems in 2013, Hurd has been instrumental in writing standard work, instituting hazardous material and forklift training, and implementing a kanban system (a scheduling system for lean and just-in-time production) for the shop floor. Most recently, he took on additional responsibilities in the human resources department when the company was searching for a new HR director.

Hayhurst says that Hurd is willing to work with anyone for the betterment of the company, and that his dedication to Western Window Systems even goes as far as fancy headwear.

“That hat he wore at the company picnic was something else,” Hayhurst says. “It should have won a prize.”

Congratulations to Tim Hurd, Western Window Systems’ office employee of the month for November.
