Darren Yazzie

When assistant production manager Mike “Hollywood” Flores asked shipping department employee Darren Yazzie in the summer of 2019 to join the Special Western Action Team (SWAT) that provides support for all positions in the shop, Yazzie hesitated – he didn’t want to leave his team.

“He didn’t jump to the role because it was more important or he could make more money,” Western Window Systems president Scott Gates says. “What finally made him say yes was that he would be helping more people.”

Yazzie started working at Western Window Systems in the shipping department in October 2018. His ability to acclimate to various positions and perform numerous jobs lead to his selection for SWAT. “His base of operations is shipping, but it’s almost to be expected that everything he touches is awesome,” Flores says. “Even when you move him to any other area, he still holds himself to the highest standards.”

Flores describes Yazzie as one of the most versatile employees in the shop – able to not only adapt to any position, but also to work well with anyone. “He finds a way to make his work go smoothly and everyone who works with him comments on what a great team player and quick learner he is,” Flores says. “No one ever has anything bad to say about him – only great things.”

Congratulations Darren Yazzie, shop employee of the year on night shift for 2019!
