Jim Herneisen

A positive attitude in business, as in life, makes everything easier. By cultivating optimism, expectancy, and enthusiasm, Jim Herneisen, a member of the glass department at Western Window Systems, excels in looking for solutions instead of dwelling on problems, never giving up when encountering obstacles, and believing in himself and his abilities.

“He’s got a fantastic outlook,” says Dean Seger, vice president of manufacturing at Western Window Systems. “Even if he’s in the middle of something, he’ll stop to take care of someone who needs his help. And he does it with a positive attitude.”

When the glass area had to be reduced due to space needed for the new vinyl product line, Herneisen and his coworkers rearranged it and looked for new ways to work successfully. Following a process improvement to move material, Herneisen, who started with the company in 2013, embraced it because of its safety factors.

For Herneisen, safety also comes into play when he’s moving materials with a forklift.

“He ensures others stay safe by honking the horn and looking around him,” says Seger. “And instead of trying to get the forklift around barriers, he’ll get off the forklift and move them out of the way.”

Congratulations to Jim Herneisen, Western Window Systems’ shop employee of the month for May.
