A long-awaited renovation at Central Phoenix’s Ronald McDonald House made the most of a donated custom-made Western Window Systems product, which gives the new space a much-needed blast of natural sunlight.

Part of the renovation included knocking out a wall in the main living area and replacing it with a four-panel, 12-foot-wide Series 600 Sliding Window Wall. The five-foot-tall windows frame views of the outside patio and play area.

“The windows donated by Western Window Systems allow the morning sun to shine in and provide a happy environment for the families,” says interior designer Daniel Germani.

Nearly two and a half years in the making, the half-million-dollar renovation of the 32-year-old building launched last summer and was wrapped up late last year thanks to an effort led by Phoenix Raceway Charities and Daniel Germani Designs, which gave the building a major overhaul, updating the dining area, common area, bathrooms, and play room and giving the kitchen a much-needed upgrade, with all-new appliances, countertops, and expanded, user-friendly cooking space.

The building at 501 East Roanoke Avenue near downtown Phoenix opened in 1985 with 16 guest rooms and was expanded by 10 bedrooms in 1995, growing to 45 bedrooms in 2005. Parents and families of children with severe health issues, including premature birth, cancer, heart problems, and respiratory challenges, stay at the house while the young patients receive treatment at nearby Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
