On October 1, a team of over 30 Western Volunteers met at Feed My Starving Children in Mesa to help fight hunger in the Philippines. Since 2013, the non-profit organization has sent nearly 30 million meals to the island country following the devastation of Typhoon Haiyan.

At Feed My Starving Children’s new warehouse in Mesa, Western Window Systems employees and employee family members hand-packed meals specifically formulated for malnourished children. Their efforts helped to pack 199 boxes (42,984 meals) to keep 117 kids fed for a year.

“I liked that it was a high-energy event,” says Eric Ottesen, supply chain analyst for Western Window Systems. “And from an manufacturing perspective, I admired the balanced cycle times and efficient processes. Like us, it’s a well-run operation.”
